Sergio Jansen-Gonzalez

I am an entomologist that works with Hymenoptera, more specifically with plant-insect interactions. I have aquired recently an interest for apiculture, learning the management of africanized honeybees in Costa Rica. I will coordinate a project funded by the Universidad Nacional (UNA) in the north-western part of the country (Guanacaste province) beginning 2020 that involves the participation of local beekeepers in deciding and implementing a standart management for their colonies in order to increase productivity and control main pests on their hives. The project is inteded to last three years and involves facilitating capacitations, and monitoring of hives before and after the management strategy is implemented. It would be an ideal opportunity to join efforts with COLLOS and collect data from Costa Rica.
