About | My research interests are mainly directed towards understanding how the evolutionary and ecological processes drive and maintain genetic diversity in populations. My Ph.D. carried on the genetic diversity and phylogeography of the honeybee populations in the South West of Indian Ocean islands. Now in Mikheyev unit I will investigate how Varroa destructor and V. jacobsoni successfully switch hosts from A. cerana to A. mellifera. For that our project is to sequence and assemble de novo genome of the two mites species and then do the comparative genomic analysis to identify genetic mechanism associated host jump. |
